Living in Sai Kung and Clearwater Bay
Sai Kung and Clear Water Bay are neighbouring seaside areas on the Kowloon side, favoured by water enthusiasts escaping the city’s high-rise bustle.
Properties: space is not an issue, with a range of village houses, villa complexes and larger waterfront properties with private swimming pools, gardens and a community atmosphere. Sai Kung Harbour is a hot spot for a variety of water sports.
Transport: for the most convenience, a private car is recommended. However, public and mini buses are readily available and the MTR at nearby Hang Hau is a 25-minute ride to Central. Driving from Sai Kung to Central takes roughly 40 minutes and from Clearwater Bay, it’s 35 minutes.
Amenities: a multitude of supermarkets, restaurants, malls, salons, pubs and Chinese seafood experiences.
Perks: popular with day trippers, Sai Kung and surrounds provide white sand beaches and parks for picnicking, hiking, or connecting with the water buffalo who venture into some of the more remote rural areas near Sai Kung Country Park. For sailors, a members-only Royal Hong Kong Yacht Club restaurant commands a view towards luxurious boats moored in Shelter Cove.
