If you don’t travel too much and have a big enough apartment you may want to look into getting a pet when in Hong Kong, particularly if they have children.

Thought needs to be given to the type of pet, especially to ensure that you will be able to take it to another country once you leave Hong Kong. Australia, New Zealand and the UK have strict importation regulations – make sure you understand these before you buy a dog if you intend to return to Australia/NZ/UK.

Where to buy a pet

Be cautious of buying a pet from many of the local pet shops. Some pet shops claim they import pets from countries such as Australia or the UK – make sure you see valid papers and that all necessary vaccinations have been completed.
